Remember When-sday - At the Office

Do you remember...
  • The Palmer Method
  • red and black ribbons
  • Gregg shorthand
  • typing erasers with brushes on the end
  • the smell of mimeographs
  • microfilm and microfiche
  • Dictaphones
  • elite and pica
  • carbon paper
  • before fax machines
  • wite out
  • typing off the paper if you didn't pay attention

I got a kick out of this! I still type somethings at work on an IMB Selectric II typewriter that uses the exact typing ball in your picture. I also learned to do teeline shorthand. I still practise while watching the news!

I remember microfilm from the public library, and White-Out 'cause my mom had it. Other than that...guess I'm too young :)

Is it any wonder we didn't die of those mimeograph machine fumes?? By the time I got to doing office work, computers were just starting to show up, signaling the end of that manual-labor office work. The fax machine was a revelation!
